• Good flexibility to cater for building movement.
Fast drying – may be tiled after a minimum of 24 hours.
• Water based for easy application and clean up.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
SURFACE PREPARATION
All surfaces must be clean, dry, free of voids, curing compounds, laitance, loose friable material, oils, grease, sealers, release
agents, and any other contaminants that are likely to prevent adhesion of the Dampfix 3. Surface must also be structurally
sound before the application of Dampfix 3. Allow new concrete to cure for 28 days and cement render to cure for 7 days prior
to the application of Dampfix 3. Do not apply over concrete slabs containing a high moisture content. Refer to ASA Dampfix
Moisture Seal vapour barrier technical data sheet regarding application. Rough and uneven surfaces should be repaired prior
to the application of Dampfix 3.
COVERAGE
To achieve a dry film thickness of 1mm, Dampfi x 3 must be applied at a rate of 0.8 litres/m2 per coat. Minimum of two coats
is required.
PREPARATION – INTERNAL WET AREAS
The application of Dampfix 3 must comply with AS3740 2004 “Waterproofing of Internal Wet Areas in Residential Buildings”.
Building boards must be installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s directions. Ensure correct screed to falls in the shower
recess base, and pipe outlets, angles and drainage are installed correctly.
PRIMING
Porous surfaces must be primed with ASA Multiprime in accordance with manufacturer’s directions. ASA Multiprime is
a synthetic latex based liquid which can be used for priming a variety of substrates prior to the use of ASA water-based
waterproofing membranes. ASA Multiprime eliminates dust and reduces porosity of plasterboard, fibrous cement sheeting,
porous concrete and timber fl oors.
ASA Multiprime should be applied onto the correctly prepared surface using a brush, roller or sponge. Allow to dry for at least
30 minutes prior to the application of Dampfix 3. ASA Multiprime is available in 20 litre, 5 litre and 1 litre plastic jerry cans.
ASA Multiprime is white in colour when applied, and dries clear. PVC pipes must be primed with Bostik N40 Primer. Dense
concrete and metal surfaces must be primed with ASA Multiprime – 2 Part.
ASA Multiprime – 2 Part is a two part epoxy primer specifi cally developed for use on non-porous substrates such as dense,
smooth concrete, existing tiles and ASA approved polyurethane membranes. ASA Multiprime – 2 Part provides a good bond
coat prior to the application of ASA approved tile adhesives, ASA self levelling compounds and ASA approved waterproofi ng
membranes. ASA Multiprime – 2 Part is a uniform blue liquid. ASA Multiprime – 2 Part is available in 20 litre, 8 litre and 4
litre kits.
CORNERS & SHEET JOINTS
All corners where Dampfix 3 is to be applied should be rounded off with a caulking gun application of ASA Neutral Cure
Silicone. Sealant must be applied directly in all wall/wall, wall/floor, hob/floor and hob/wall joints. All sheet joints must be filled
with ASA Neutral Cure Silicone and extend 5mm either side of the joint. All gaps around taps, shower outlets, waste outlets,
pipes, drains, flashings, and nail/screw holes must be sealed using ASA Neutral Cure Silicone.
CRACKS
Static cracks less than 1mm are to be cleaned with any loose material removed. Prime the area with ASA Multiprime and
apply two 200mm wide coats of Dampfix 3 to the area, achieving a minimum dry film thickness of 1mm. Static cracks between
1mm and 4mm wide are to be prepared in the same manner. The area must be primed with ASA Multiprime and then a bead of
ASA Neutral Cure Silicone must be applied into the crack, extending 5mm either side of the crack, and then apply two 200mm
wide coats of Dampfi x 3 to the area achieving a minimum dry film thickness of 1mm. NOTE: If tiling, movement joints should
be taken to the surface of the tiles. Fill joints with ASA Neutral Cure Silicone.

 MIXING
Stir Dampfi x 3 liquid before commencing. 1 litre of Dampfi x 3 liquid mixes with 1kg of Dampfi x 3 powder. Pour a measured
amount of stirred liquid into a clean pail. Slowly add the required amount of powder with continuous mixing, until a lump free,
thick paint consistency is achieved. A low speed mechanical mixer is recommended. Allow to stand for 5 minutes then remix.
Dampfi x 3 is now ready to use.
APPLICATION – INTERNAL WET AREAS
WALLS – After priming and joint sealing, apply Dampfi x 3 to the internal corners of the shower using a paint brush. Ensure
the corner is well coated, extending 100mm either side of the joint. This must extend past the height of the shower rose. It is
important to coat around the tap body in the wall. The wall/fl oor joint must then be coated extending 100mm onto the fl oor and
up the wall 100mm. • Where the height of the hob is greater than 75mm, then Dampfi x 3 must extend at least 25mm above the
height of the hob. Apply Dampfi x 3 to wall surfaces, coating all wall/wall joints, wall/fl oor joints, protrusions and wall surface.
FLOORS – When coating the fl oor, Dampfi x 3 must be dressed down into the waste at least 50mm. • Allow to dry for 6
hours (longer required for cold or humid conditions) before recoating. • Apply fi nal coat to ensure no imperfections
are present in the membrane. • Suffi cient Dampfi x 3 must be applied onto the surface to achieve a minimum 1mm
thick dried fi lm. • Allow a minimum of 24 hours to cure before tiling (longer required for cold or humid conditions).
APPLICATION – EXTERNAL DECKS & ROOFS
After priming and joint sealing, apply Dampfi x 3 to wall/fl oor junctions and sheet fl ooring joints using a brush, extending at least
100mm either side of the joint. Once dry, the entire fl oor area must be coated. Suffi cient Dampfi x 3 must be applied onto the
surface to achieve a minimum 1mm thick dried fi lm. Ensure Dampfi x 3 is applied underneath existing cover fl ashing or install
an appropriate fl ashing over the membrane. Apply Dampfi x 3 into wastes, drains or onto puddle fl anges. Prior to application
of Dampfi x 3 to balcony penetrations, install a fl anged metal upstand around the penetration. Prime with ASA Multiprime – 2
Part and seal off the perimeter of the penetration with a 10mm bead of ASA Neutral Cure Silicone. After fi nal application of
the membrane, place a suitable fl ashing collar around the penetration, sealing with ASA Neutral Cure Silicone. Apply a
fi nal coat to ensure no imperfections are present in the membrane. Allow a minimum 24 hours to cure before tiling.
DRYING TIME
Allow Dampfi x 3 to dry for 4-6 hrs (longer required for cold or humid conditions) between coats.
TILING AND MORTAR BED COVERING
This may be carried out after Dampfi x 3 has been allowed to cure for a minimum of 24 hours at a temperature of 25°C
(longer in lower temperatures). To eliminate possible surface contamination or damage it is recommended tiling, mortar bed
application or fi nished fl ooring be carried out as soon as possible after membrane has cured.
RECOMMENDED TILE ADHESIVE
Walls – ASA Asafl ex, ASA Megafi x (internal use only) or ASA Confl ex. Floors – ASA Asafl ex, ASA Confl ex or ASA Fixall
mixed with undiluted ASA Megalastic. Timber – ASA Asafl ex.
MOIST OR DAMP SURFACES
Dampfi x 3 should not be applied to surfaces, which are moist or damp. Applications to these surfaces can result
in adhesion failure and or bubbling of the surface of the membrane. New concrete must be allowed to cure for a
minimum of 28 days. If substrate moisture is evident, ASA Dampfi x Moisture Seal vapour barrier must be applied
and allowed to fully cure before application of Dampfi x 3 (Refer to ASA Dampfi x Moisture Seal technical data sheet).
CLEAN UP
Clean tools and equipment with warm water and detergent while the membrane is still wet.
