CA Mission and Day of the Dead Tile Collections from The Tile Shop California, USA.

The Tile Shop are proud to offer this beautiful collection of handpainted tiles by California artist Elany Prusa, each show casing one of the 21 California mission churches.

Each unique design is hand-glazed (hand painted) on a 6 inch tile and then kiln-fired (at extreemly high temperatures) to achieve the stunning high-gloss shine of the glazes.

The heat-resistant tiles each include an attached wood-backing and cork feet. The tiles are suitable for hotplates, trivets or wall decor.

Founded in 1776, the mission at San Juan Capistrano was the 7th California mission established by the Spanish Missionaries.

Founded in 1771, the San Antonio Mission was the 3rd CA Mission established by the Spanish missionaries.

The variety available at this beautiful shop is is exstensive. Each design available would compliment any room they adorn, although the theme in some tiles available are an obvious choice for certain rooms.   Also distinctive to this boutique style designer tile shop are the family crest tiles, which will add that personal touch to any family estate.

Another personal favourite of mine is ‘The Day of the Dead’ collection.  Both quirky and dark these tiles are very curious and will definitely make a fashion statement if your bold and creative enough.

Each individual tile has an inscription on the back detailing elements of this annual Mexican celebration ‘El Dia do los Muertos’, Day of the Dead, and the image portrayed.

An inscription on the back of each tile reads: “In a small town in Mexico one family begins preparations for an annual celebration, El Dia do los Muertos, the “Day of the Dead,” to welcome the spirtits of their loved ones home again.”
