Kemgrout Sanded-WATERPROOF TILE GROUT – CHEMICAL AND ACID RESISTANT
CONSTRUCTION CHEMICALS
DESCRIPTION
A dense hard-wearing Portland cement floor and wall grouting compound with resistance to mild chemical and
acid attack for joints up to 10mm wide.
USES
A hard-wearing grout formulated for interior, exterior and immersed floor and wall grouting applications.
Formulated with additional chemical and acid resistance for the use on floors where cleaning chemicals are used,
e.g. commercial kitchens.

COVERAGE (approximate) 1-2kg/m2
PERFORMANCE DATA
Compression Strength (28 Day) (ASTM C109) 50Mpa
Moisture Absorption (ASTM C-413) 1%
Chemical Resistance
Resistance to 10% Alkali solutions
Petroleum solvents and weak acids is good
Resistance to concentrated acids fair (Minimise stains by immediate removal of spillages).
SPECIFICATION
The grout shall be a chemical resistant waterproof tile grout with a minimum compression strength of 50Mpa
such as Kemgrout Sanded manufactured by Construction Chemicals and shall be applied in accordance with
the manufacturers application instructions.
MIXING
Mix grout to a thick, uniform, creamy mixture by adding powder to clean water – Ratio 4-5 litres of water to
20kg of powder. Do not over mix as shrinkage cracks may result.Allow to stand 5-10 minutes then restir before
use. Formulated for joints up to 10mm wide, for joints over 10mm add 20-30% clean, dry, washed sand.
APPLICATION
Grout tiles after the adhesive has had sufficient time to set – 24 hours for walls and 48 hours for floors.
Dampen the tile joint with a sponge and apply the prepared grout, spreading 3m at a time, working well into
the joints with a sponge, grouting tool or piece of rubber. Point joints with the edge of a grouting tool or piece
of rubber to pack grout firmly into place. Remove surplus grout with a damp cloth or sponge. Do not allow
the grout to harden on the face of the tiles.When a haze forms over the tiles, polish carefully with a dry cloth.
When using Primer and Grout Additive or Flexible Grout Additive – polish carefully with a dry cloth before the
grout dries on the surface of the tile.
SWIMMING POOLS
Kemgrout Sanded must be mixed with 50/50 solution of Primer and Grout Additive for immersed applications.
Colours may bleach over time.
IMPROVE GROUT PERFORMANCE
Mix grout with Primer and Grout Additive to improve impact, flexural strength and increase resistance to
staining and discolouration.

IMPROVE GROUT FLEXIBILITY
Mix grout with Flexible Grout Additive to improve flexibility and increase resistance to staining and
discolouration.
PRECAUTION
Colour shade variations can occur due to tile porosity variations, finishing techniques and site conditions. Do
not use Kemgrout Sanded in expansion/movement joints, use Colour Seal. Due to movement inherent in
timber floors, mix Kemgrout Sanded with ‘Flexible Grout Additive’.
